Post Thanksgiving Cleanse: Golden Milk Latte

The-Best-Turmeric-Milk | www.8thandlake.com

Since Thanksgiving just pasted and more holidays are yet to come, I’ve made a few simple recipes this week that will help cleanse our bodies from all the delicious foods we’ve probably indulged in lately.  Ones that will help us quickly get back to eating healthy again!  I’ve wanted to share this recipe for a while and somehow it escapes me.  This turmeric milk is liquid gold – so delicious, beautiful, and full of different flavors melding together while comforting your body from the inside out!  I’ve been on a turmeric kick lately and have been using every excuse to add this spice to any dish and now drinks!  It is such a soothing drink that always helps me wind down from a busy day and helps to recover from the flu as its extremely nourishing.

Turmeric is a spice often used in Eastern cultures and is known as a healing spice.  Because of it’s wonderful antibacterial properties its used to help certain skin aliments, stomach aches, sore throats and the flu.  I know it must sound strange to add spices to your milk but trust me you can do this delicately by adding a touch of honey, giving a sweet warmth to the milk.  The peppery spice, warmed in almond milk, alongside the sweet cinnamon and honey is such an unexpected and tranquil flavor that has an instant calming effect on the body and mind.  This is a great drink to quickly start feeding your body again with delicious foods that do wonders for you!  It’s also extremely soothing to snuggle on the couch and sit by the fire or watch the rainfall, all while drinking a beautiful cup of warm turmeric milk.
