Delicious Paprika Hummus
This Paprika Hummus is absolutely delicious and has quickly become one of my favorite snacks to always have on hand! As we make our way into winter I’ve been looking for ways to incorporate spices to foods to help keep my immune system up and ready to fight against any colds. I’ve been on quite the turmeric kick and that has now extended well into paprika and cumin! Aside from breakfast, I’ve had each spice in all my meals this week - some with sweet potatoes, others with chickpea salad. I've always shied away from spices but lately I can’t get enough and it’s been so exciting to explore all these new flavors and then see which combinations and dishes become instantly more delicious and flavorful with just a touch of spice! This hummus is so thick, creamy, and full of flavor as it takes in all the warming paprika and cumin spices perfectly! I love the blend of nutty tahini, alongside the refreshing hint of lemon and paprika. It really is heavenly. It has quickly become my favorite staple food as it goes well on nearly everything. You can add a dollop of hummus to salad bowls, mixed with brown rice or slathered on veggies. The ways in which to use hummus are endless - it really becomes a fantastic subtle base to nearly any dish!
The paprika in this hummus is an unbeatable source of Vitamin A, with 1 tablespoon supplying your body with more than 100% of you daily intake. Because of the essential oils and the cuminaldehyde compound found in cumin it aids in digestion, improve immunity and is used to treat common colds. Ingredients for the Delicious Paprika Hummus:
- 2 cans chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- Juice of 2 lemons (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 2 tablespoons tahini
- 2/3 cup of water (add more gradually if you like it thinner)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 teaspoon salt to taste
Simply place all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and mix until creamy. Check to see if you would like to add more salt or water to make it a thinner, creamy hummus. Enjoy!
