Spicy Kombucha-Avocado Dressing

Jalapeño-Cucumber Kombucha adding a healthy twist to a luscious avocado-cream sauce. Slightly sweet yet spicy, this is the perfect accompaniment to any summer sandwich.

This winter I moved from SF to LA with just a duffle bag, a blow-up mattress and a new puppy…all in the same week. For the first time in my life smoothies, chia pudding, and avocado toast weren’t my first priority — instead, training a new puppy. But one must eat, so I got creative. Very creative.

When one ingredient ran out, I’d swap it for something similar - challenging my food creatively…mainly because I couldn’t leave the house for more than 2 hours at a time (definitely factor this into your new puppy adopting decision). So, I swapped miso for mustard, tamari for salt and when that tamari ran out, I’d swap it with the juice from a capers jar…I know, I know, it was time to go food shopping.

But it also got me thinking — what else could I easily swap? So, just as the summer rolls around and picnics commence, I wanted to add a twist on the classic avocado toast that usually makes for fantastic picnic hors d'oeuvres. I’ve added a dash of Health-Ade kombucha! I know it may sound a little strange, but trust me on this. I’m using their new flavor Jalapeño-Kiwi-Cucumber to add a subtle spice and sweetness to the avocado cream dressing. It is utterly delicious! It makes this dressing and has the added bonus of sneaking in a few probiotics to your toast — now that is some fancy avocado toast, making it that much healthier and delicious.

It truly is such a delicious addition to this sauce. I implore you to go wild with this recipe - drink the Jalapeño-Kiwi-Cucumber kombucha, but also eat it too.

ps: I’m also a huge fan of Health-Ade’s pomegranate kombucha flavor and I have a feeling that it would be delicious spiked into a beetroot hummus…just saying :)

Kombucha-Avo Dressing:

1 avocado

1 tablespoon coconut yogurt

1 handful fresh cilantro

Juice of 1/2 small lemon

1-2 tablespoons Health-Ade Jalapeño-Kiwi-Cucumber Kombucha

1 tablespoon avocado oil, or olive oil

1 teaspoon honey

Pinch of sea salt

* Blend everything into a food processor until creamy and enjoy!
