Take a Middle Eastern staple, the date, blend it with almond milk, throw in a banana and recreate the milkshake. Dates are a snack food celebrated in many cultures for their unrivaled ability to sustain energy levels over long periods of time. By incorporating dates in an unexpected way, it changes their often singular use - reimaging staple foods to something more exciting. For me, I’m all about finding a few simple ingredients that can add nutrition and a delicious take on a traditional meal, provoking the norm.

The milkshake: so creamy yet so full of sugar often causing stomachaches and energy crashes. Switch up the standard milkshake recipe and add dates for natural sweetness. Dates have a rich caramel like flavor that blends seamlessly with the creamy almond milk base. Taking this shake even further, add bananas and cinnamon for a luscious breakfast that has all but the stomach pains. This shake is a breeze – quick enough to make on the fly and will keep you filled with lasting energy, all thanks to a few dates.
